Time to catch up! In and Out Freebie!

Woo! Yesterday I went home sick but today I'm feeling much better! We have company in town from Texas this week and this weekend we have clients coming in from Illinois and Mississippi. This gal is excited to cook for everyone. Back to business.
I've come a long way in the past two weeks in my room:
This arrived at my doorstep and I'm very happy with it for the price and quality:
VIA
I'm designated a bin for each chapter for math. It will be used to hold printables/centers that go with each chapter.

So did this! AND I'm obsessed to say the least. I can't wait to show you all everything in it! Check back HERE Thursday for a product review of my Erin Condren Planner!
And last but not least this poor guy set up home at the farm last week. We named him Cricket. He is very sweet and acts like he has been here for years.

Now onto new business. It isn't Monday but I saw on another blog (forgive me because I can't remember where for certain so shout out if it was you) that she covered her Home Depot Nail Aprons with laminated name tags and I thought why didn't I think of that? Easy as pie. So I got to work and made a name tag in word (all different colors) and printed them. Can't wait to show finished pics!

You can download your own polka-dot labels here.
What do ya think?
In math we talked about the properties of addition and fact families! We had some fun in our notebooks:
Download your own houses here!

I just realized my comment button wasn't working and hasn't been since my new layout! I'm so upset. I got it fixed but still don't have a reply button. This layout has been more stress than it has been fun. I'm starting to regret buying it!!

Today we are doing descriptive paragraphs in writing. We are writing about our favorite foods. I'm trying to start uploading things to my TPT account! I'm horrible at uploading all my freebies there. I always just go to Google Docs instead! Click below to download!

I made this real quick on my lunch break. I'm excited to use it this afternoon!

Bobcat Goals! Leader In Me!

This year I'm taking a big leap into goal setting and taking a lot of ideas from Leader In Me to make as my own. In our room we all received goal folders as a gift from Miss Janes!
Now you may oooooo and ahhh as you please.
Page One:
This is the page where we "log" what books we take AR test on. Download here!
This is where we graph our test scores. Notice we have a red passing line. This is a visual so we know if we are passing or not. In my room 80% is passing. In second grade it is 60%.. I'm not really sure why. 60% is basically an F! You can see where Marisa put a dot on quiz 2 on 100%:)This file isn't uploading so if you would like this just shoot me a comment with your e-mail.
This is where we will be making bar graphs on how many books we pass. I have not introduced this yet. I will probably wait until everyone takes an AR test. Download here!
I met with each student in order to give out spelling test goals and on Mondays we will meet again to chart our previous weeks grade. We will also modify our goals as needed! Download here!

Feel free to use these and modify them to make them your own!

These are our overall goals. The kids are really excited about this. I think it is important we let our kids know their progress, improvements, and struggles. Last year this worked really well with AR reading levels. When I met with kids each month they could look back and see what they were reading just a few months before. They couldn't believe their progress and neither could I! I also sent home book bags this week. Check back later this week for a peak inside my reading binder as well as the documents I use inside my binder to keep organized!

Finally my e-mail is working again! Here is the photo of what we hung up in the hallway this week!

You know you are an elementary teacher when....

You know you are an elementary school teacher when..
by Jeff Foxworthy
1. You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to the child out of line.
2. You get a secret thrill out of laminating something.
3. You walk into a store and hear the words "It's Ms/Mr.> _________" and know you have been spotted.
4. You have 25 people that accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or another.
5. You can eat a multi-course meal in under twenty minutes.
6. You've trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of the day: lunch and planning period.
7. You start saving other people's trash, because most likely, you can use that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the classroom.
8. You believe the teachers' lounge should be equipped with a margarita machine.
9. You want to slap the next person who says "Must be nice to work 8 to 3 and have summers off."
10. You believe chocolate is a food group.
11. You can tell if it's a full moon without ever looking outside.
12. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says "Boy, the kids sure are mellow today."
13. You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior when you are out in public.
14. You believe in aerial spraying of Ritalin.
15. You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.
16. You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own needs.
17. You can't pass the school supply aisle without getting at least five items!
18. You ask your friends if the left hand turn he just made was a "good choice or a bad choice."
19. You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils
20. You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer and finally,
21. You understand instantaneously why a child behaves a certain way after meeting his or her parents.

Isn't that supply cake precious!? Our PTO made them for us! Gotta love involved parents!

First Day Finds!

The first day has come and gone and the second one is halfway over! CRAZY how fast these first few days go! I'm already ready for the weekend and this cool down weather. I LOVE FALL! Now to business. I have 18 little dollbabies currently. My first day went so great that I'm scared that something bad is going to happen. It went WAY to perfect. Here are a few things we did today and yesterday! Enjoy!!
This little gem. VIA
We did this today, the second day of school. They turned out so cute. I already hung them out in the hall!! VIA

Just like last year I whipped out the cursive license again. The Third Wheel has a super fun activity that the kids LOVE doing. We fill out the application, take pictures, sign the card, and laminate them. They are pretty fun! I think it makes them feel a bit mature too.

This year I am really pushing the 7 Habits within the Leader In Me program. These little posters are perfect for explaining habits to young ones! Check them out! Can't wait to hang these pups up.
With that in mind we started talking about goals. This packet is a great resource for talking about realistic goals and not so realistic goals. VIA. It also has some great pictures to color if you are finished early. We played a little game on the smart board and did a thumbs up for realistic goals and thumbs down with not realistic. We wrote four goals we had for third grade. These will go in the goal folders and be shared at parent-teacher conferences. I'm super excited about this.

We also used this packet to talk about rules and made superhero students and shared what rules these super students followed best. It was fun!
Have a super weekend!

Room Tour Linky Party

Second day back at work and I'm feeling lucky people. Yesterday I won (three drawings) including: a 10 dollar gift card to a local cafe,a super sassy MSTA polo shirt, a $25 Wal-Mart gift card, and a yummy dove chocolate bar. A few days ago I won an amazing giveaway from:
Little Lovely Leaders
I won 29 different things and I can't wait to share my feedback to you on my favorites!!! I may buy a lotto ticket today people. I guess that is the way of welcoming me back to a 35 mile drive to work. If so I will take it! Anywho my school count down is getting closer:

With this in mind I decided to do a tour of my classroom and what's better than one classroom tour? Well LOTS of classroom tours of course! So show us your wonderful classroom. Show us your math centers, your cabinets, your carpet, the way you organize your desk (or not), and your cubbies! Let us be jealous. Just post the following link to get the graphic on your page and link up! Enjoy!

This is the view from my desk!
This chair belonged to my great grandpa who passed away when I was in highschool. I got it at my great grandparent's estate auction for $2. Its super comfy and kinda ugly but the kids love to sit in it. I can't imagine ever replacing it. It has a lot of sentimental value.
Here I will be writing daily/weekly objectives. The font is from letteringdelights.com but I downloaded these last year from another blog!
Another whiteboard view
My cubbies look so bare this year. Previously I had books stacked on top of them. I filed them away (see pic below) and now I'm going to hang anchor charts above here.
I reused old files to sort my Story-Town reading series by chapter. We have leveled books that are colored that go along with our vocab and weekly objectives. Now all I have to do is open to that week and pull them out. This is going to save so much time.
This is where I store all my math manipulatives and supplies. I think I'd die without this cabinet.
This was the set up for meet the teacher night. Popcorn feebie (I can't remember who made it sorry!) frog name tag (Random frogs I know) and parent packet! You can download my parent letter here. It also has a donor's choose permission slip inside of it as well as an outline of rules and procedures. If anyone would like a copy of that shoot me an e-mail.
This is the most exciting thing that I have made this summer. I can't wait to share what is inside of these puppies! Be sure to check back next week to see how we are tracking our goals---with data!! WOO HOOO! I'm also giving away all the editable files as a freebie. Stay tuned.
I have an overload of whiteboards... so here they lay.
We do AR testing so each bin is leveled. The chapter books on the left side are 4.0-4.9 and the ones of the right are 3.0-3.9. Books above 4.9 won't come out until someone needs them. We have lots of non-fiction books that are 5th+ to look at but I am really strict on what books each child reads. It worked really well for us last year so I'm hoping it do again this year!.
A close up of my book labels!
Reading carpet!
This shelf was MESS all last year! I finally got it organized. Now I'm waiting to find the perfect fabric to cover it up! It is just used for storage.
We post vocab words here and as a student finds a vocab word in a book they get to add their name to the word. We count up the most names at the end of the semester and I give out prizes to the top three who find the most vocab words in books!

I have a few more pictures to add but for some reason they won't e-mail to myself. Can't wait to see your room. I know some people have already posted tours in the past week! But you can still link up.
